New Year, New Me: 12 Encouraging Affirmations for 2025

As we step into a brand-new year, there's an undeniable excitement in the air. A fresh start, new opportunities, and the hope that this year will be better than the last. Yet, if we’re honest, many of us are feeling a little tired, sluggish, and even demotivated. The past year may have drained us, leaving us uncertain about what lies ahead.
But now is not the time to give in to those feelings. There is still so much to accomplish, and a new year offers us a chance to reset, refocus, and step forward in faith. One powerful way to do this is by speaking life over ourselves through affirmations.
What Exactly Are Affirmations?
Affirmations are powerful words put together in a sentence or statement used to inspire and motivate change. They shape how we feel, influence our outlook, and shift our perspective on life. The Bible tells us:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” – Proverbs 18:21
Words matter. The ones we say to others, the ones we say to ourselves, and even the ones we think in our hearts. They have the power to lift us up or tear us down.
I’ll be honest—I used to struggle with affirmations. Years ago, an occupational therapist encouraged me to write a list of positive statements and repeat them daily. But I dismissed it. It felt pointless because I didn’t believe those statements were true. But that was just my negativity talking, keeping me stuck in the same cycle of self-doubt and discouragement.
Now, I understand the power of speaking truth and life over myself. So, as we enter 2025, I want to share 12 affirmations—one for each month of the year. These are truths to encourage you, build your confidence, and uplift you in moments of hardship.

12 Powerful Affirmations for 2025
I invite you to meditate on one of these affirmations each month. Say it, believe it, and allow it to transform your perspective.
I am forgiven
No past mistake defines me. God’s grace covers me. (1 John 1:9)
I will not be anxious about my future
God is in control, and I trust His plans. (Philippians 4:6-7)
What is meant for me will not pass me by
God’s timing is perfect. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
I have hope and a future
My life has purpose and meaning. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I believe in myself
With God’s strength, I can do all things. (Philippians 4:13)
I am fearfully and wonderfully made and created for a purpose
You were not created by accident. You are here for a reason. Embrace your worth and identity in Christ. (Psalm 139:14)
I love ____ about myself
(Fill in the blank with something you appreciate about yourself!)
I love the way I feel when I take good care of myself
Self-care is not selfish; it’s necessary.
I am loved, loving, and lovable
God’s love for me is unwavering. (Romans 8:38-39)
I am in the process of becoming the best version of myself
Growth takes time, and that’s okay.
I am enough
I don’t have to prove my worth; I am already valuable to God.
I will not compare myself
My journey is uniquely mine, and that’s a beautiful thing.

Beyond Speaking—Taking Action
It’s not enough to simply say these affirmations. The next step is to implement changes in your life to make these words a reality.
If you affirm that you will not be anxious, take time to pray and release your worries to God.
If you declare that you love yourself, practice self-care and treat yourself with kindness.
If you proclaim that you are enough, stop measuring yourself against others and embrace your worth.
My hope is that you take one affirmation each month, meditate on it, and truly apply it to your life. Let these words strengthen you, guide you, and remind you of the beautiful truth: You are loved, you are chosen, and this year is full of new possibilities.
